Record-Breaking Year

In May 2023, Nassau Cruise Port officially embarked upon a new era of Bahamian cruise tourism, celebrating the grand opening of the port after a $300 million transformation. Company executives welcomed over 500 guests including dignitaries, government executives, and Hollywood celebrities to a sensational event featuring remarks from the Prime Minister of The Bahamas, Deputy Prime Minister of The Bahamas, and cruise line executives.

Grand Opening

Nassau Cruise Port welcomed over 4.4 million passengers in 2024, setting a new passenger record and contributing an estimated $6 billion in visitor spending to the Bahamian economy. The redevelopment of the cruise port, which has elevated the guest experience and places Nassau’s harbour among the great waterfronts of the world, continues to surprise and delight guests as they visit the port time and again.

Awarded Concession

In 2019, the Government of The Bahamas awarded a 25-year concession to Nassau Cruise Port Limited (NCP) to operate and manage the cruise port at Prince George Wharf and the surrounding area. NCP is a consortium between Global Ports Holding (GPH), the Bahamas Investment Fund (BIF) and the YES Foundation. The cruise port is expected to have an estimated cumulative impact of $16 billion on the local economy.

Empowering Bahamians through investment opportunities

Nassau Cruise Port Ltd. (NCP) has transformed Prince George Wharf, the cruising gateway of Nassau, Bahamas, into a modern, world-class, Authentically Bahamian waterfront destination. It is anticipated that this expanded and revitalized port, with the capacity to welcome over 33,000 passengers to our shores daily, will generate an estimated $16 billion for the Bahamian economy over 25 years.

Through the Bahamas Investment Fund – an open-end investment fund established in 2018 – NCP successfully raised over $25 million through a historic equity offering led by Colina Financial Advisors Ltd. (CFAL) in December 2021. Over 3,500 Bahamians applied for shares during the oversubscribed offering.

Hidden Disabilities Sunflower
Nassau Cruise Port (NCP) is proud to announce its participation in the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program, a global initiative designed to support individuals with non-visible disabilities. This significant step underscores NCP’s deep commitment to inclusiveness and exceptional customer service.

The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program provides a simple yet effective way for individuals with non-visible disabilities to discreetly indicate their need for additional support or understanding. Participants wear a green lanyard, badge, or wristband with a yellow Sunflower, signaling to staff and the public that they may require extra assistance, patience, or time. This initiative helps raise awareness and fosters a more inclusive environment for those with conditions that are not immediately apparent such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, epilepsy, chronic pain conditions, mental health conditions, hearing impairments, and more.

International Coastal Clean Up
Every year, the Nassau Cruise Port team proudly participates in the International Coastal Cleanup, a global initiative dedicated to preserving our oceans and waterways. This event brings together volunteers from across our community to remove trash from coastlines and raise awareness about the importance of protecting our marine ecosystems.

During our cleanup activities, team members and community volunteers work side by side, collecting litter, documenting waste, and promoting sustainable practices. We believe that every piece of trash removed not only beautifies our beaches but also protects marine wildlife and contributes to healthier oceans.

Check here for updates on our next cleanup event or contact us to find out how you can get involved.
Second Chance Students Port Tour
Students in the Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF) Second Chance Programme recently spent a transformative day at Nassau Cruise Port. A group of 60 children and 10 RBPF chaperones received an exclusive tour of the cruise port, which included an exciting visit to the Bahamas Museum of Junkanoo. Members of the Nassau Cruise Port team, Bahari Bahamas, and other port community members made presentations about their careers and about creating entrepreneurial opportunities. Additionally, the students were treated to lunch from Preacher’s Kid, one of the sensational Bahamian restaurants at the port, sponsored by Nassau Cruise Port.
Botanical Leaf Printing with R.E.A.C.H. Bahamas
Nassau Cruise Port partnered with The Current: Baha Mar Gallery & Art Center to host a special art workshop for autistic children in celebration of Autism Awareness Month. Twenty children from the R.E.A.C.H. Bahamas (Resource, Education, Advocacy & Community Help) community participated in a Botanical Leaf Printing class for an afternoon of creativity and fun at the Gallery & Wine Bar at Nassau Cruise Port.
A team of artists from The Current: Baha Mar Gallery & Art Center including Jordanna Kelly, Assistant Director of Art Curation; Averia Wright, Curatorial Manager; and Shanise Poitier, Programming and Studio Coordinator, provided leaves from seagrape, cocoplum, and other indigenous trees and donated the art supplies used to complete the printing process. The children, guided by parents, aides, and The Current Gallery facilitators, enthusiastically explored their artistic talents by creating unique prints using the leaves and paint. Cruise passengers of all ages also joined in the fun.
The Dignified Girl Project
In celebration of Women’s History Month, Nassau Cruise Port joined forces with the Dignified Girl Project and our tenant, Pharmasea for an impactful donation to empower women and girls. We distributed 300 essential hygiene product “dignity kits” and a financial contribution of $1,500 to local organizations. The feminine hygiene products – sanitary pads, panty liners, and soap – were donated to The Bahamas Crisis Centre, Ranfurly Home for Children, PACE Bahamas, and the Public Health Authority. NCP staff members packed the dignity kits and wrote encouraging messages for recipients, demonstrating their commitment to supporting women’s health. The Bahamas Crisis Centre, Ranfurly Home for Children, and PACE Bahamas each received an additional $500 to further support their vital services.
